The Legal Profession Assistance Conference (LPAC) of the Canadian Bar Association is dedicated to help lawyers, judges, law students and their families with personal, emotional, health and lifestyle issues through a network of Lawyer Assistance Programs, a national 24-hour helpline and provincial programs.

The ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs has the mandate to educate the legal profession concerning alcoholism, chemical dependencies, stress, depression and other emotional health issues, and assist and support all bar associations and lawyer assistance programs in developing and maintaining methods of providing effective solutions for recovery.

The Final Report: Retention of Women in Private Practice Working Group from the Law Society of Upper Canada discusses the differences between the legal careers of women and men and outlines business and social reasons for developing strategies to retain women in private practice. It also makes a series of recommendations to promote the advancement of women in the private practice of law.
